A traditional village pub located in the centre of the historical village of St Osyth.
Pub in Clacton
Welcome To The Red Lion…
No one is sure how long the building has been a pub, but according to the Ipswich Journal dated July 1754 a Cricket match was to be played in the grounds. Another early reference is an invoice dated 1757, found in a Vestry book dated December 1856. We also served as the local post office during 1839-1858.
The Red Lion has been in the Amos family for over 30 years, today mine host being Jason Amos who retains the tradition started by his father Peter, of attractive floral decorations outside the pub.
Today offering a public bar, dart board, pool room, two dining areas and large beer garden with car park and bed and breakfast. The rooms are very clean and well kept, you’ll feel right at home. Locals will tell you how good the food is here (especially the steak). And our beer garden sits right under the sun in the Summer months, so you can spend a long evening down here with great company, a few drinks and some gorgeous sun.
