Situated in the small town of Brightlingsea just up the road from Clacton On Sea, our free museum offers two exciting trails for you to explore. The Bricklesey Mouse Trail for younger visitors to the museum and the Town Heritage Trail for families and adults. Whether you are here for half an hour or half the day, there’s lots to see and engage you. Take a browse around our unique beach hut souvenir shop if you’ve got the time. There is plenty of room to get around with a pram, mobility scooter or a wheelchair. Everything is on one level so you don’t have to worry about any slopes or stairs. If you have any additional requirements then simply get in touch with us and we will do our very best to accommodate.
History Museum Clacton
Our museum in Brightlingsea was originally founded back in 1989 but in 2020 we opened the new purpose built premises. With the many improvement that brought, we now think we rank amongst the best local museums in the country. We believe that visitors should be able to freely access this museum as often as they wish. Everyone who manages the museum is a volunteer. We kindly ask for donations from visitors as we do of course still have bills to pay.
Check out our upcoming events that you and the family can take part in. Just click here to visit our What’s On area of our website.
